NORTH JERSEY MEDIA GROUP MARKET

North Jersey Media Group's market is an area of unprecedented wealth and retail sales. With a total population of 1.9 million(a) and 677,441 households(a), the population of the market is equal in size to the Orlando, FL Core-Based Statistical Area (CBSA)(b). Our northeastern New Jersey market encompasses the two-county Bergen and Passaic metro plus portions of Morris and Essex counties. North Jersey Media Group's Median Household Income of $68,737 is 11% higher than the statewide median of $61,266(a). More than a third (34%) of all households(c) have incomes of $100,000 or more.

Located just west of New York City, the market's close proximity to the country's premier financial and cultural capital makes it one of the most desired real estate locales in the nation. The market's 1.4 million adults(c) are primarily concentrated in demographic groups that reflect the region's wealth. The area outperforms the entire 29-county New York Market (DMA) in the most important of these demographic categories.

Transportation options also make the region attractive. Newark Liberty International Airport, located just minutes from the center of the market, is one of the nation's busiest passenger and cargo air terminals. In the last year, more than 772,000 adults(c) used Newark Liberty International as a point of departure. That's comparable to more than half the adult population. Rail service by New Jersey Transit and the Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) Corporation link the market with New York City and Newark. In addition, NY Waterway operates a daily commuter-ferry service into Manhattan. The area is also served by the well-known east-west artery of Interstate 80 and north-south by Interstate 95. The New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway link the region to all areas south.

It's no wonder, then, that North Jersey Media Group's market is a thriving business hub as well. Bergen and Passaic counties, making up the heart of our market, are home to more than 74,500 businesses(d). Business and Health Services have been the prime growth industries in the market for decades. The Service Industry now accounts for 44% (d) of all businesses in the area.

But Retail is the business segment well known to be a giant in the area. Retail accounts for nearly one out of every five businesses in the region. The area has nine major indoor malls, five of which are located in Bergen County. One of these, Westfield's Garden State Plaza, is the largest mall in the state, and among the largest malls in the nation. The town of Paramus is the 3rd highest zip code in retail spending in the entire country. No wonder that total Retail Sales in North Jersey Media Group's market for the year 2005 were in excess of $37.0 billion (e). That's more than the Core-Based Statistical Area of Pittsburgh, PA(b).

Shopping, education, housing, transportation, industry and location all combine to make North Jersey Media Group's market one of the most desirable in the nation.
